Party Favours

Now then, where were we? Ahh, yes, the Bloodhaven party.

Never before had I seen such majesty. The estate took up an entire city block, with sculptured gardens and exotic plants scattered around the grounds. I was in awe as I walked towards the manor house, to this day I can not remember what the servants had asked. Kelios must have said all the proper things for we had barely stopped on the steps before we were allowed into the party.

Inside the house was even more breath taking than it was outside. Each room seemed to be a portal to a different land. There was a subterranean cave, a sandy desert, an artic wasteland, a grass covered Savannah, a tropical riverside, a huge indoor pool and an undersea grotto, complete with sharks! And people! People everywhere. If I had to guess I would have had to say that near 600 people were in the house, in all manor of costumes and dress. I know that we were looking for the knife so that we could save Kelios from a gruesome fate, but the house fascinated me so. I lost track of my companions and spent far too much time exploring the various rooms. It was not until I met that Kipper fellow that I was reminded of my quest. He was quite at home in the underwater room, for he had an unpleasant aura to him and looked quite like a fish. His presence snapped me out of my awe and allowed me to notice the servant who was in desperate need to give me a note. It stated that the fellow had some information for me and that I should me him at the coach house at 9:30. He was nervous and indicated that I should come alone. I was somewhat suspicious, but I could let nothing stand in my way. As the hour approached I moved out of the house, and towards the coach house. One last surprise was in store for me however. On the lawn was an enormous chess set. As I walked past I noticed that some of the pieces were watching me. Lord Bloodhaven had dressed some of his servants as chess pieces. Such extravagance!

Kelios had just finished telling her tale to the two old men. They had looked suitably scared and shocked by her tale. And they wouldn't even bet against her in a game of darts. Why did every one assume that she was such a girl? She wandered the hallway, avoiding the throngs of guests, looking for new rooms to explore. She found a door that was locked, but not for long she thought. She knelt down in front of the door way and started trying to pick the lock. Many guests couldn't believe what was happening and simply stood and started. She had almost figured out the lock when a servant interrupted her. For some reason he would simply not believe that she had been sent by a lock smith because someone had requested that this door be opened. Eventually she gave into the servants demands and was escorted to the front door. The servant asked 2 guards to escort her off the grounds, although they were very rough about it. One of the brutes asked her what she had nicked and when she looked confused they jumped on her and searched her. Her weapons, her money and her invitation were taken from her and then she was thrown out into the street. She couldn't let this set back affect her, for she was Kelios! And she would get what she wanted. She circled around the estate and started to try and climb over the wall by the coach house.

As I snuck between the coaches I spied a shadowy figure standing just outside of the doors of the coach house. I approached and saw the figure dart around the corner and into the street. I checked to see if the door could be locked behind me and started to follow the fellow. I turned the corner and encountered Kelios, looking much worse for wear. She quickly told me a sad tale about the guards who had taken her things and dumped her outside of the party. As we were chatting we heard the sounds of jackel-wares coming from the streets. It sounded as if a huge pack of them were approaching the house. We started to head back to the manner when a hidden portcullis slammed down in front of us! The sounds of the pack were getting closer. I tried a side door and found that it was unlocked. Kelios and I rushed inside the coach house and slammed the door shut. We started to look for a way out of the house and encountered a grisly sight. On the table in the next room was a person, laid out like a thanksgiving turkey. Their throat had been tore out and they had been laid out on a bed of lettuce. Blood still dripped from the wounds. As we listened we could hear the sound of someone whimpering from upstairs. We started to sneak up the stairs, expecting to find either a beast or a frightened person. As we entered the last room the sound stopped and everything was deathly quiet. The room was a decorated in what must have been hunter chic, if you were a psychotic! Bodies had been stuff and positioned about the room; a person, a goblin, some sort of midget and various non-human races. I checked the closet and found only another stuffed body. Kelios noticed a secret door and then seemed to lose her mind and started slashing at all of the stuffed bodies. I could not blame her, but I also heard some sounds down stairs. I went to investigate and found that Bernard and Peotr had made their way to the house as well. We had barely greeted each other when the trap was sprung! The body on table behind Peotr sat up and started to tear into him, while we could hear Kelios screaming from upstairs. I had still not found the source of the whimpering, and was confident that Peotr could hold his own against the recently dead. I rushed to Kelios side, where she was in deadly combat with a stuffed Ogre! The brute was tearing hunks of her flesh out with ever swipe of his claws. I joined the fight and was soon joined by Peotr and Bernard. But the beast had many tricks up his sleeve that night! He summoned forth evil magics and caused himself to blur before our eyes. Many of my blows would have hit if I had been able to see him clearly. But that was not the greatest evil, he summoned forth a bolt of lightning and had it course through us all. Kelios was overcome by it's effects and fell to the floor. Then the beast vanished from sight. We listened for sounds of it's movement while Bernard tended to Kelios. Peotr had summoned a ball of fire, and from his fortress inside the closet he directed it down the stairs. I heard a clinking of glasses and started rushing down the stairs to try and find the beast, but was stopped on the stairs by the ball of fire. Peotr started sweeping the room with the ball and suddenly we saw the outline of a flaming beast falling to the floor. As the flames went out, we noticed that the beast seemed to be one that we knew. His natural form seemed to be that of a large hairy wolfman. Although he could no longer confirm our suspicions he seemed to be the fiend that had stolen the shape changer body from us the second night we were in town.

Well, goodnight to you "Gov'ner".
